BASDT Halloween Invitational

I want to thank all of those who weathered the storm and participated in the meet on Saturday and hope everyone had a safe journey home. The BASDT hosted a great meet and finished right on the timeline.

14 Conroe Diving Club members and coaches Bill Travis and Danny Sautural attended the meet on Saturday. The meet was hosted by the Bay Area Stars Diving Team and held at the Pearland Recreation Center in Pearland, TX. 90 divers and eight teams from Houston, Dallas and San Antonio attended the meet with the Conroe Diving Club finishing second overall in the team standing behind host team Bay Area Stars. CDC earned 19 total medals including 10 gold, six silver and 3 bronze. There were many outstanding performances and I was very proud of the kids.

Brady Gottula and Logan Thomas earned individual high point winners for the Conroe Diving Club on Saturday. Katie Kowalik and Logan Thomas captured double gold medals while Kenzi Leslie, Brady Gottula, Megan Milbaum, Bree Sautural, Michelle Roberts and Brooke Rupp brought home individual gold. Silver medals were earned by Kenzi Leslie, Lily Bonzon, Brady Gottula, Bree Sautural, Megan Milbaum and Henely Dawson while teammates Calie Crofford, Ashlynne Reynolds and Ella Dawson captured individual bronze. Toni Harper just missed a bronze medal in both the 1 and 3 meter events.

This was a fun meet for the kids (with the exception of the very high gutters at the diving end of the pool) and coaches Bill and Danny enjoyed the event. It is important for the future champions and novice kids to participate in these events to help with experience and gain insight about the sport and make new friendships. Thanks again to all the parents who made the trip and helped with an enjoyable experience.

For new divers interested in seeing meet results you can go to divemeets.com and find all the information on the homepage. At the top of the homepage click on "meets" and then "AAU" and you can find the results. You can also click on your child's name and find their diving history. Explore when you have a few minutes.

The Conroe Diving Club has made great strides the past six weeks in re-building the program and have 70 divers participating in the diving program in October.

I also want to thank the City of Conroe for letting us host the meet and making sure everything went smooth. We have a great program with an incredible booster club that makes it possible to host an event like this. I saw new parents helping out with the meet and I want to thank them as well.

I hope everyone is enjoying a fun Summer. The month of June was very exciting for the Conroe Diving Club with much success for the Junior Olympic divers and coaches. The Summer is the heart of the JO season and a lot of training and preparation go into the Regional, Zone and National level events. This year CDC had 12 divers attend the USA Diving Zone championships (5 in 2015) and five divers advanced to the National championships (2 in 2014).
