Twelve members of the Conroe Diving Club and coaches Bill Travis and Nancy Vear participated in the 2016 BASDT Halloween Invitational Saturday October 29. 90 divers and seven teams attended the meet held at the Pearland Recreation Center with the CDC capturing 17 total medals including 11 gold, five silver and one bronze. With only 12 divers, the Conroe Diving Club finished third in the overall team standings.
High point winners for the Conroe Diving Club at this meet were Brody Johnson for the boys and a tie between Megan Milbaum and Chloe Sharp for the girls. Double gold medals came home with Brody Johnson (10-12 f/c), Megan Milbaum (14-15 JO), Chloe Sharp (11&U JO) and Alexander Vear (10-11 novice). Individual gold was earned by Brady Gottula (14-18 novice 3M), Noelle Maisel (9&U f/c 1M) and Raina Malagarie (12-13 novice 3M). Silver medalists include Emily Adams (13&O f/c), Asher Carleton (9&U f/c 1M), Brady Gottlua (14-15 JO 1M), Noelle Maisel (9&U f/c 3M) and Raina Malagarie (12-13 novice 1M) while teammate Laura Jovien captured bronze (13&O f/c gold 1M). Other divers representing the CDC at the meet were Abigail Adams (9&U f/c) and Lainey Osborne (10-12 f/c).
It was a great bonding meet for the divers and coaches. The divers did a really nice job in their individual events and it was fun to see everyone laughing and "high-fiving" each other. I thought we had a good week of practice at the aquatic center and I left the meet feeling very positive. This will be a fun year if everybody continues to support one another and work together as a group. See you at the pool.
