Impressive Start for the Conroe Diving Club


The Conroe Diving Club opened the 2014  in winning style by capturing 96 total medals in the first two competitions of the year. Area divers attended the CDC Fall Classic October 12 at the Conroe Aquatic Center and the BASDT Halloween Invitational October 26 in Pearland, TX coming home with 42 gold, 32 silver and 22 bronze combined medals. The Fall Classic was the largest meet in team history with 148 divers and 10 teams attending from Austin, Dallas, College Station and Houston. Both meets held events for future champion, novice and Junior Olympic levels of diving in the 9 & U, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 age groups. Head coach Bill Travis and assistant coach Danny Sautural attended these meets with the divers and captured the overall team title at both competitions.

Michelle Roberts was the high point girl for the Conroe Diving Club earning four gold medals in the 12-13 age-group while Matt Haynes (16-18) and Andrew Hamons (12-13) collected three golds each for the boys. Double gold medalists include Logan Berryhill, Calie Crofford, Peyton Donald, Liberty Dougal, Kambri Foster, Trace Moore, Kaylee Trevino and Alexa Underwood. Individual golds were brought home by Halley Buhlig, Resinaee Cosey, Ricky Do, Christopher Donald, Emily Donald, Kaylee Frantzen, Ashley Globus, Tyne Green, Reagan Hinze, Keaton Martin, James McDonald, Gianna Means, Justice Means, Elise Riley, Kylie Santore and Mason Williams. Bree Sautural and Keaton Kowalik earned three silver medals while Lily Bonzon, Alice Crofford, Maryn Dougal, Kailey Dupuy, Lauryn Kelly, Alexis Parnell and Danielle Riley finished with one silver and teammates Hailey Boone, Avery Dillingham, Sydney Hinze, Jack King lV, Dieter Remaley, Deven Ross, Allison Stansbury and Faith Williamson captured bronze. Other divers representing the Conroe Diving Club include Toni Harper, Arienne Higginbotham, Katie Kowalik, Isabella Montgomery, Lila Montgomery, Ashlynne Reynolds, Marina Wilson and Michael Wilson III. "This was an incredile start to the 2014 season says coach Travis, a combined 56 divers representing the Conroe Diving Club at these two meets is the largest in team history". "The diving program has grown tremendously in the last year with the addition of assistant coach Danny Sautural and seeing young divers compete for the first time is a valuable experience they will never forget".

The Conroe Diving Club is a year around program for children 6-17 interested in learning basic springboard diving skills and pool safety around the diving area. Divers may advance to the competitive program after participating in the "learn to dive" classes. Classes are instructed by head coach Bill Travis and assistant coach Danny Sautural at the Conroe Aquatic Center. Coach Travis is a 4-time NCAA All-American, 2-time NCAA national champion and 3-time USA Diving national team coach.
